The term for existence, very often personified by ancient writers, was God. The term God was defined as I am that I am, or Existence. This definition was first reported by Moses and so this is the definition that should be used rather than later definitions all contending vaguely with each other since then.
Many such discussions about this subject are doomed from the start because participants do not define their terms. They alternate freely between the specific and the general without any warning. They then digress into an often emotional struggle to define terms the other used so as to appear to win some semantics struggle embedded in their subconscious like a torrent of words trickling as water down a hill. Words thrown like arrows intended not to elaborate or inform but rather to destroy.
